Dr. Sletten is a California native who grew up in the Los Angeles area. He graduated Cum Laude with a Biology degree from the University of California, Irvine, but it was human physiology and nutrition that inspired his quest to enter the field of medicine. He earned his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, and completed a three year residency at the Ventura County Medical Center (VCMC), in affiliation with the UCLA School of Medicine Division of Family Medicine. He is currently a Board Certified Family Physician and Diplomat with the American College of Family Medicine. Following residency, he completed a Fellowship in Sports Medicine, also with VCMC and UCLA; and he earned a Certificate of Added Qualification from the American College of Sports Medicine and maintains Membership.

In 1991, he became the Team Physician for the California State University, Northridge (CSUN). There he cares for the 400+ NCAA Division I athletes and serves as the Director of the Sports Medicine Clinic at the Addie Klotz Student Health Center where any of the 35,000 students may be treated. As the Director of the CSUN Center for Sports Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Kinesiology, he has been lecturer, educator and collaborator on numerous studies. In fact, he met his future wife at CSUN, Julie (Golgert) Sletten, MS, an Exercise Physiologist.

Dr. Sletten is also Clinical Faculty with Northridge Hospital Medical Center Family Medicine Residency, UCLA Division of Family Medicine and the Kaiser Woodland Hills Family Medicine Residency. He is an integral part of their Sports Medicine curriculum.

He has balanced his Sports Medicine Practice with ongoing work in Emergency Medicine at three hospitals. He received training in Advanced Trauma Life Support and is currently certified as both Provider and Instructor in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).

It is out of sheer joy, gratitude and duty that Dr. Sletten has decided to expand his practice as a Defeat Autism Now! Practitioner who has complete the Basic and Advanced Clincian Training. He offers his expertise as a Doctor and Dad to those parents and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who want the best chance of healing for their child.

What is not surprising is that the same biomedical principles that can lead to health and recovery for ASD patients also apply to numerous other conditions; such as asthma, allergy, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other chronic illnesses.

This Integrative Medicine approach fits perfectly with his expertise in high performance sports medicine at the NCAA Division I Level. The serious athlete who wants to maximize their potential understands the importance of balanced, optimal nutrition and the physiology of recovery. Dr. Sletten offers this in an efficient, practical and safe way. Furthermore, his strong Orthopedic and Emergency Medicine background makes him a very logical first stop for the management of any orthopedic injury or non-surgical fracture.

Thus, the concept of the Sletten Wellness Medical Center was born, and has now become a reality. This is a place where Integrative and Sports Medicine are fused, and the patient is given ample time and opportunity to become a partner in their healing.
